The Art of a Mini Session

Lately I have been thinking a lot about Mini Sessions. I love the days that I devote to Minis for kids- they are so fun! This year I want to do more days of Mini Sessions, starting with Spring!
Sometimes a Mini is one that I throw together quickly- last summer the Petite Fleur Mini was inspired by my over-burdened Peony bushes, so full of fragrance and bloom, but short lived. I gathered crates and containers and quilts from around my house and layered them in together with a bushel of blooms to make a backdrop.
Other times Minis are pre-meditated. For the Christmas Minis I planned and gathered and created props for a month, which made for detail-rich images and happy kids!
I find props everywhere- junk piles at the farm, yard sales, outdoor markets etc. I am lucky to have inherited a lot of old things; I come from a long line of gatherers! With these I mix in colourful elements that grab the eye; red cabbages, bright flowers, and textural elements like pinecones.
When you see a photo of mine I want you to experience the moment captured- I want you to smell the flowers and feel the snow. Remember a moment from your own life that felt fresh and sundrenched, or taste the nostalgia of home.
Watch for Mini Session announcements here and on my Facebook page! Minis are $125 and include 8-10 polished digital images.
