The Story Behind The Photo

Every time I look through the lens of my camera I see a story. A couple with young kids who need a date night- but love their time with the kids to much to take one. A two year old with a new sibling who is figuring out how to share. A father dancing with his daughter at her wedding, hoping it wont be the last time she asks him.
Photography is about the story. At a wedding my job is to capture the day, and the memories; the moments that the family will treasure. At a baby session my job is to take this beautiful tiny person and give his or her parents a record of the details that change so quickly in a baby.
A crystal clear memory, unhindered by the fog of time. A photograph taken at the right moment, crafted carefully, can bring back a feeling; the sounds and tastes and smells that made the moment real.
In my work I am always looking for new ways to make the photograph jump, to make it remind you of more than just the visual. A wedding cake is beautiful, but a photo of the cake being enjoyed- a memory of the flavor has a greater impact.
Over the next few weeks I will be selecting a photograph and telling the story behind it.
